Allergies can have a severe impact on people's lives. We are committed to ensuring that we cater to as many dietary requirements as possible.
Sometimes animal products such as milk and eggs are used during the wine-making process, this means that not all products are suitable for vegans, and some are not suitable for vegetarians. There are also several common allergens that are found in wines. If you have a specific dietary requirement, allergy or intolerance, please do not hesitate to get in touch and we would be more than happy to advise you further.
Allergies that are commonly found in our products include but are not limited to:
Sulfites occur naturally in the wine-making process, and are sometimes also used as a preservative. Sulfites are also commonly found in beer.
Egg Whites are sometimes used to help clarify wine (usually red), although it is filtered out, a protein from the eggs can be left behind sometimes resulting in allergic reactions. Beer and other alcoholic beverages also sometimes contain egg.
Gluten is usually not found in wine but usually occurs in beer due to the use of hops, barley and yeast.
Chitosan includes exoskeletons of crab, shellfish, shrimp and other crustaceans - it is often used as a finishing agent in the making of white wines.
Gelatin is used in the process of making red wine to reduce tannins and reduce astringency (excessive sensation of dryness)
Other allergens, as well as animal derivatives may also be found in our products: If you have any queries about dietary requirements or allergens, please get in touch and we will do what we can to advise you further and suggest products that suit your needs.
